Confession by Ann We moved into our newly renovated office unit located in an old building in June 2022, at Central Business District (CBD) area. The location is good and food is fine.
A few occasions we encountered stuff we could not explain in this office. Usually we just talk and laugh it off. Humor is how we deal with the fear of the supernatural. However, today something extremely weird happened. Lunch hour in the CBD can get quite crazy. I didn’t feel like squeezing with the crowd so I decided to tapao (packet) my lunch back to the office. The others in the office had already left for lunch and the only other person was the admin girl. She too had decided to tapao food back to the office. She had her lunch in the pantry while I ate at my desk and watched Netflix. The main door bell rang. I glanced at the intercom at my desk to see who it was. I pressed the unlock button on the panel but it wouldn’t work. The door remained locked. I pressed the intercom and called out to whoever it was outside but there was no answer. Then something moved into view on the camera on the intercom panel. For a split second I saw a black face in full view of the camera and then it moved away quickly. I thought to myself: maybe someone short was trying to show his face on the camera. From the angle of the face moving, it seemed as if the person was short and around my height. “Ok, coming now,” I said into the intercom speaker. I hurried to open the door but saw no one. Puzzled, I stepped outside into the lobby, looked around, checked the stairwell, but there was absolutely nobody. The lifts were stationary so whoever it was would not have taken the lift. The door to the stairwell was heavy and noisy. If anyone had gone that way, I would have heard noises or at least see the door closing. The lobby is very small, with its entire area captured within the frame of the camera. Our main door is made of clear glass, offering unobstructed view. Within the timeframe I walked from my desk to the main door, whoever that had appeared on the camera would be in my line of sight. At that point I felt a slight tingling sensation down my spine, as if my subconscious was warning me of something. I went back into the office and sat down. Minutes later another colleague came back from lunch. I asked if she had seen anyone leaving the office building and she confirmed that she hadn’t. I tried the door unlocking mechanism again and this time it worked fine. So what was it that had tried to come in? I asked if anyone else had similar encounters and found out that another male colleague had seen a ghostly figure staring at him from the reflection of the tinted window a few months back. It occured at 7am, when he just arrived at the office and there was no one else around. Then he spoke of another incident which I was present. He thought he saw a white figure resembling my boss entering the boss’s room. As I was in another part of the office arranging some documents, he shouted my name out in an urgent manner. I stopped what I was doing and went over immediately only to hear him say, “nothing, nothing” as he walked away. He had decided to brush it away and keep the incident to himself so as not to frighten me. We asked the building manager if there were other such incidents but he was tight lipped and refused to share what he knew about the building. |
