Confession by Adithpranav This was way back in 2016, me and my fellow exco, went for our SSLC (Senior Specialist Leaders Camp) camp, Senior Specialist Leaders Course. It is a 3 Day, 2 Night camp where we learn various Skills such as Teaching, Leading training programmes, becoming a Leader, Physical Training , Drills Etc.
We all reached there on the first day. On this day, the officers are usually very strict and punish us for the small mistakes we do, such as not helping each other, being too loud, not showing respect etc could earn us 20 push ups. The first day was very painful. We did over a 100 pushups, had drills for hours and even did military based activities. ( First horror Account ) We had this segment where we cleared rooms with our dummy Sar-21 rifles. 5 Of us would line up outside this very old village style house (80+ years old) to clear it by entering strategically. When we first did this activity our encik wasn't so nice when my friend fooled around with the doors. He pointed a rifle at various parts of the house when he was not instructed to and we got pumped immediately. The encik said sorry 2x to the air and shouted at us all when we were on the ground. "YOU THINK THIS IS A BLOODY JOKE IS IT? DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU MIGHT ANGER?" We dropped 20 and he brought us out of the house to tell us a story. He said that these buildings in the Amoy quee camp, used to be Japanese offices during the war where alot were killed and several of the officers committed suicide. That's why it is a place we have to respect, he said. Part 2 - Nightfall Our second night at the camp was pretty routine as well. We all were tired, our bodies were aching and we just wanted some sleep as we were going to leave the following day. However there are always a few jokers in the platoon of 300 boys. 5 of these jokers went to the parade square at 2am to just walk around and play games at the 'haunted house' that was once an office used by the Japanese. They dared each other to stay 5 minutes on the broken roofs of the house. One of these idiots accidentally stepped over the offerings consisting of candles and biscuits, and didn't bother cleaning up as well. They all completed the challenge and sneaked back into the tents to sleep. This was when the horrors of the camp started, not just for them but for all of the 12 of us. We heard people marching and it wasn't the usual sound of our boots, but softer. These sounded like metal hoover boots and made a clang sound. The most horrifying moment was when 2 of the idiots saw shadows of 10 men marching with flat headgears (the ones the japs used back then). They were crying and shouting, "LEAVE US ALONE! PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T!" non stop. It was as if they were held at gunpoint. We were all scared and panicking as we couldn't see anything but could only hear it from all around us. Boys from the other dorms rushed to help us as we had 7 girls who were too afraid to do anything, leaving only 4 of us trying to hold them down unsuccessfully. More boys came and some woke the officers up. The enciks quickly rushed to us and carried the boys back to the medical bay while the boys were still screaming for mercy. Yes we heard it from 100 meters away. Soon the screaming stopped. I heard that the Enciks showed some SAF Plaque to the boys to calm them down. Some said they were brought to the buildings to apologize after hearing the confessions of the other 3 boys. 3 boys got badly reprimanded and were stripped of their course. The other 2 boys were sent to the hospital at 3 in the morning where they claimed to see apparitions of soldiers with pitch black bloodshot eyes from the glass doors. |
