Confession by Dhasha When I was a young child in my primary school years, I would follow my dad to work during the June
holidays. My parents both worked the night shift and there was no one home to take care of me, so I would tag along with my dad. He drove a large sand lorry and his job was to transport sand to and from the sand depository to the construction sites. This was usually done all through the night so that when construction work began next day, the materials would be in place. I didn’t mind following my dad at all, you can imagine that as a child, all this was very exciting for me but after this one incident I encountered, it pretty much scarred me for life. Even though I was a young child at that time - probably 8 years old - the memories followed me all through the years. I was sleeping, curled up along the front seat when I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I thought it was my dad trying to wake me up. When I opened my eyes, I saw that he was still driving and he had both hands on the wheel. Then I heard a giggle. It was very clear and in my left ear. I got up and looked around. The lorry was traveling slowly along a dark narrow lane with no street lights at all. The only illumination came from the lorry’s headlight. Then I heard the giggle again. This time I was awake and I knew it was not something I imagined. It was a clear and distinct giggle. Thankfully my dad was beside me, and that kept my fear at bay. I told him that I had felt a tap and heard a noise, but I didn’t get into specifics because I was afraid that by speaking about it, matters would just get worse. And right at that very moment, I saw a boy move across the road in front of us through the beams of the headlights. I said ‘move’ because it was literally floating across. Just the upper body, with no legs. It was moving from the right to the left. Midway, it turned towards us and I could see that his eye sockets were empty where eyes were supposed to be. His mouth was opened wide, the jaws were unnaturally over extended. He held a lollipop in his hand. Then it turned away and continued floating across the road, and vanished in the darkness. I turned to my dad and was about to tell him what I saw, but from his expression I knew he saw something too. He gestured with a finger to his lips as an indication for me not to say anything. He maintained his driving but started praying out loud. We didn’t talk about the incident the entire night or the days that followed. After we dropped the sand off at the location - this was around the Changi area - we went straight home. Both of us had fever for two weeks straight. My mom kept on asking what happened and eventually dad told her what he saw. She insisted on taking us to the temple for blessing and I remember shortly after that the fever subsided and I went back to school and dad went back to work. I still followed him to work during subsequent school holidays but fortunately didn’t have further encounters. The next time I had another supernatural encounter was in 2019 when I went to Shanghai, China, for a school trip. I will tell you that story another time. |
