Mohan, 47, Security Guard I work for a security firm where I am stationed somewhere in the west of Singapore and oversee
the security of the place. I’ve been in this line of work for almost ten years now. As far as the supernatural is concerned, let’s just say I have had my fair share of strange occurrences. You talk about smell. I’ve been in situations where I suddenly smell something sweet; like frangipani. You know what they say about that right? It means Pontianak is nearby. I also heard laughter before. The Benoit area is particularly famous for such sightings. If you were to ask the other security officers, they will usually tell you they hear things, but not many have seen hantu with their own eyes. I was fortunate or unfortunate to see one, but it’s not like how you imagined it to be. I was doing my rounds, and like I said I heard this laughter, screeching from one side of the building and moving very quickly to the back. I followed the sound; to be honest, I wasn’t afraid. I was more curious. I radioed back to the guardpost and asked if they had seen or heard anything. My buddy said the gates were locked and there was no one around; just us. I kept on walking. That’s when the smell hit me; intoxicating was the best I can describe it. It was as if the scent was directly beside you. It was there for one minute, then gone, then it came back again. When I turned the corner to the back of the building, I saw this huge creature flying quite low. It was the size of an adult body. I cannot make out the face because it was covered by hair, but the body was distinctively human like. It had arms outstretched and the body looked draped in white cloth. It flew towards the top of the industrial drums, perched there for a bit, stood up then walked across the drums before leaping off and flying towards a large tree. Naturally I ran after it. I shined my torch at the tree trying to catch a clearer look at this creature and that was when I saw it. It was human-like and transformed before my very eyes. By the time I got to the tree, it had became a bird, a very large bird, nothing like I had ever seen before. It observed me for a minute as I looked up at it, then it flew towards and past me, and out of the factory. Eugene’s Notes: I myself have heard of that screech. According to some members who reached out to me, they said that such a “duck quacking” sound is actually that of a bird (I can’t remember, need to research) and it’s also white in colour. Light source wise, I asked about it, it was dark and only lit by street lamps. My husband said duck-quacking sound is a sign of Pontianak. |
