Christopher Lee as Dracula. It all seems so cheesy and campy now. But at the age of 8, even that awful Transylvanian accent, unflattering cloak and a set of ill-fitting artificial fangs were the scariest things I'd ever come across. Little would I know that just a couple years later I'd be seeking out every ounce of 'horror' I could get my hands on. The Exorcist, It, An American Werewolf in London – I just couldn’t get enough.

Yet true horror for me, wasn’t what I watched in movies set in far off countries. It wasn’t found in Stephen King novels. What really set my nerves alight were the stories exchanged in hushed tones, among friends sat around a flashlight in the dark. It was the unexplained moments as a young boy I witnessed at a Ferry Point Chalet. It is every mention of that mysterious lady in white and that sweet lingering whiff of Frangipani. It is these tales originating here in Singapore - by day a sunny island set in the sea, and hours later a truly terrifying Temasek by twilight.

Coming from a Peranakan family, I was accustomed to Asian superstitions and taboo but nothing could prepare me for a full contact supernatural experience that took place from 2012 to 2014.

I spent two years battling the supernatural and almost lost my life in the process. During that time, I was dragged into a world people don't talk about. These are the stuff you don't find detailed online because people with real stories don't share it with the world. We deal with it internally and try to rationalise the weird things until they fade from memory.

In order to overcome my fear of the unknown, I threw myself deeper into the paranormal world and learned as much as I could. Knowledge was the only way to defeat fear. Through that dark period, I got to know many spiritual practitioners who helped me along the way.

After the ordeal, I began to help others with similar experiences. During that time, I was featured on shows like Singapore Haunted and Supernatural Asia, and conduct tours and talks at Asian Civilisation Museum.
