This is a confession about a dog owner who moved into a haunted apartment. The dog had sensed something was amiss but it was not until the owners placed her bed at the exact spot where someone had died before that something peculiar took place. Confession by Marie Ho In early August, my partner and I moved into our home in an old condo, with our dog, Heidi, just before the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival started. Heidi is a 14-year old senior dog from Switzerland, who doesn’t act or look her age. Since she came to stay with me last year, she stole my heart and made me a dog person no one thought possible. The following Thursday, we woke up to find Heidi immobilised in her bed. She had peed in her bed, unable to stand up or walk. We tried to help her stand up, but she collapsed right away. It was the first time she was like this, and her eyes looked so dazed. I thought we might just lose her. We rushed her down to the vet for an emergency appointment. At the clinic, Heidi underwent almost every test possible. My usually timid dog turned aggressive and bit all the nurses. We had little choice but to sedate Heidi just to get the X-rays done. The X-Rays showed that her stomach and heart were slightly enlarged, and the full blood test showed some elevated liver levels. But the results left us perplexed - there was no stroke, nothing to explain why she suddenly collapsed, or what could cause a paralysis like that. The vet was hesitant to provide any answers then and arranged for us to come back the next day for more checks. Fortunately for us, there was an Animal Communicator at the clinic that night and the vet invited her into the room to "speak" with Heidi and find out what was wrong, because medically there was nothing severely wrong to explain her sudden condition. Because medically there was nothing severely wrong to explain her sudden condition. The Animal Communicator spoke with Heidi and related her findings to us - Heidi seemed so far away. Heidi was scared and asked if it was really time for her to go, for someone had told her so. Heidi said she loved us very much, and waited a long time for me to come into her life. She had been my partner’s dog for 13 years, but got instantly attached to me since we met. I’ve never been much of an animal person and never thought I could love a dog this much but when I heard that, I broke down and cried even harder. At first I thought it was the stress of moving house and adjusting to a new place. But with Heidi like this, I had no logical explanation. At the brink of sounding crazy - I thought it could be something spiritual in the house/room, as the place had been left empty for a while before we bought it. It could explain why my partner had been having these consecutive long dreams of someone chasing him and waking up tired every morning. Heidi also seemed so lost in our new place, not wanting to come into our room. It was very strange because she always wants to be near us, and is used to sleeping in the room with us. The night before, we carried her into the room and placed her on her bed at the corner, only to have her wake up immobilised. I shared the incident with my sister and family friend, and we arranged for a Space Cleanser to come in the next day. Getting through Thursday night We carried her home from the vet in tears. She was so limp and lifeless in our arms. Her breathing was hard and laboured, sometimes gasping. We had the 24/7 Animal Hospital number on speed dial preparing ourselves for the worst. All I could do was put my hands on her and pray. Please, please don’t take her away from me this soon. That night, we slept with Heidi in the living room. There were two disturbances - first, she had a nightmare and was yelping in her sleep. Second, she had diarrhoea all over herself and had no strength to get up. She is a very shy dog and you can tell she was so embarrassed. We hardly slept that night, waking up to pray over her or calm her down, or clean her up. Space Cleansing The Space Cleanser came on Friday morning. We shared briefly that it had been a stressful time moving house, the consecutive dreams, and our dog getting paralysed. He walked around the house. He said we had a mild restless spirit in the house who was stuck, who he didn't know where to go. He went into the room and said there was a bed where our new wardrobe is, and a man had passed away there - it was peaceful but the send-off was likely not done properly. (We changed the orientation to build a new wardrobe in the space). We were stunned. We didn’t tell him, but that was the exact area we had placed Heidi’s old bed in, and she couldn’t get up the next day. I guess it explained why Heidi was so uncomfortable in the room and preferred the living room. He started chanting and cleansing the house with incense and prayers. And Heidi got up and started walking like nothing had ever happened. She followed him everywhere in the house, just like her old self. He started chanting and cleansing the house with incense and prayers and Heidi got up and started walking like nothing had ever happened. He cleansed the house and said the spirit left by the main door. He gave us advice for keeping our home aura happy and harmonious, and an amulet to put under our pillow for restful sleep. That night, my partner slept like a log for the first time since we moved in. Heidi came into the room and slept on her new bed, this time in a different spot next to us. Her next-day recovery was nothing short of a miracle, but we are still following up with regular vet appointments just to be sure. We tried tracking down the previous owner of the home but reached a dead end. I don’t have a logical explanation for what happened, but take it that we did a good deed. After this incident, many good things started happening - things fell into place, life generally felt smoother. Above all, I’m just thankful to come back to a happy home and to have our dog back.

I won’t go into details about her condition, but because of her condition, she used to sleep on the same bed with me so that I can watch her. On a particular night, my hubby was overseas and my older daughter decided to crash in with us sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Sometime past 4am, I noticed that my younger daughter was not by my side and I left the room to look for her. I found her crying and bleeding in her room. She had even written a note to me to say that she thought she had really gone crazy that time and she was scared. I hugged her and after assuring her that everything was gonna be alright, asked her what had happened. What she related to me would send chills to anyone, but it did not occur to me to be afraid then. She said that when she awoke in the middle of the night and turn to face away from me which was a half wardrobe, she saw a mesmerising meadow. After looking at it some more, she saw a girl being carried on a stretcher coming towards her and then the girl came off the stretcher and tried to attack her. That was when she ran to her own room. She saw a girl being carried on a stretcher coming towards her and then the girl came off the stretcher and tried to attack her. She was planning to do some reading when she noticed a woman (ghostly) standing behind her sister’s room door (their doors are adjacent to each other). She freaked out and closed her door. Later, she saw from the reflection of her wardrobe that some of her soft toys were breathing. All these freaked her out so much, she thought she was going crazy that she slashed herself and left me the note. Luckily, I found her in time. After tending to her wounds and praying with her, she managed to calm down. By this time, my older daughter has also awaken to help in praying and calming her. She even sent text messages to her church members to activate prayers for us ASAP. At about 6am, the clock in our living room crash landed onto the floor. This is something impossible. At about 6am, the clock in our living room crash landed onto the floor. This is something impossible. It’s a steel nail and metal hook that secure the clock. We checked the hook. It was intact. How did the clock fly off the wall? Is it related to what has happened in the wee hours to my girl? * Additional Notes: The daughter is doing will now and she’s now a psychologist herself. She remembers the incident and she wants to use her own experience to help others now. As for the paranormal experience, she experienced it more than once and she still remembers them as well. But as a Christian, she puts them down to demonic attacks. Eugene's Notes: The daughter is doing will now and she’s now a psychologist herself. The line being crazy and hantu-afflicted is a fine one. In the field of parapsychology, we believe that when a person is physically or psychologically weak, as in the case of having illnesses or depression, the person is more prone to being supernaturally attacked. How then do we say with certainty that it is only one problem (medical) and not the other (supernatural)? Denying a person of medical help is foolish, to say the least; debunking the existence of supernatural elements at play, to believers like me, is equally foolish.
